Title: Sinnoh League Semi-Final! Darkrai Appears!! (シンオウリーグ準決勝!ダークライ登場!!) Air Date: August 26, 2010 Summary: After his narrow victory over Paul, Ash discovers that his next match is against the strongest contender in the entire Suzuran Conference, Takuto - who has easily won every battle to reach the semifinals using only his Darkrai. Source: Wikipedia
Thoughts: Well Ash becomes the only person in Shinn'oh to take out Takuto's Darkrai, using only 4 of his Pokemon to do so. Only to end up fighting Latios; so that's why they're having that WiFi event. Anyways, the anime certainly doesn't take the law of the games into account, since in the games Darkrai is built like a twig and can easily be taken out with any UU pokemon. I found it surprising that Ash went with his all Shinn'oh team against Shinji/Paul but then switches to his all Hoenn team against Takuto, plus Gible. Also, I certainly didn't understand the last scene, where Brock questions his future. I thought he wanted to to be a breeder, but this plot device makes it seem he doesn't know what he wants to be.
As for Best Wishes, Iris will be the first girl to join Ash without her bike being blown. For one, Iris doesn't have a bike and Ash will mistake her hair for a Pokemon. Iris' character looks to be one of those bratty know it all girls and that can get somewhat annoying over time. Only two episodes of Diamond and Pearl left and I only have one request for the Pokemon Company, please please please continue to use the current ending song for Best Wishes too, it is one of the best songs from this series since a long while.

Title: Conclusive Rival Battle! Satoshi Versus Shinji!! (決着ライバルバトル!サトシ対シンジ!!) Air Date: August 19, 2010 Summary: Even though Gliscor gets knocked around, it manages to knock out Drapion. But then Paul brings out Electivire which quickly takes out Gliscor and Pikachu leaving Ash with just Infernape. Barry starts to doubt Ash after Infernape gets fried by Thunder at max. power, but then Infernape is told to use Blaze which seals the deal. With Infernape using Flare Blitz at max. power and even more against Electivire's Double Thunder Punch, it's an even match. But it proves to be too much for Electivire as it falls defeated giving Ash the victory. In the end, it shows that the he will be facing the mystery tariner Takuto who has the Darkrai. Which pokemon will Ash use, and can he win to move to the finals? Source: Wikipedia

Firstly, does anyone recognize the insert song? It sounded familiar, at first I thought they were playing "Ready Go", but I'm pretty sure thats not it, although they have been playing a lot of Johto and Hoenn songs lately. Speaking of Hoenn, it looks like Ash's Pokemon will be mostly his Johto team against Darkrai. Furthermore, I've included screens from Best Wishes that were shown, it looks like Ash's starter this time and for the very first time will be a water type, Mijumaru. Also, another wide conspiracy from me, but could the girl who's replacing Dawn actually be Sayaka François Joy/Marnie Francis Lynnette Joy from DP028. By Ash's last line I expect Shinji to return in BW.

Thoughts on Anime: It Doesn't Add Up
written by: Tsubasa on 2010-08-16 at 1:54 PM
There’s this nagging feeling I have in the back of my head that Dawn will surely return for Best Wishes. Really, there is nothing to prove that Dawn will or will not return. The only thing we know about Best Wishes is that the first 3 episode will introduce us to Airisu and Dento. And so far, from what I’ve seen from the trailer for Best Wishes, there nothing to make me believe Dawn will not return, but there’s also nothing for me to believe that she will return.
In my last blog post I said that I thought Dento will be the coordinator and Airisu (Iris) will be the breeder. I’m flip-flopping on this, I still believe Airisu will be the breeder of the group and Dento will be involved with Pokemon Musical. There is nothing really so far about Contests in Pokemon Black and White, and it almost makes me want to believe Contests will be done away with in Isshu. However, the Contest is something Pokemon has been trying to put down our throats for the past 2 series. So its either the Pokemon Company gave up on Contests or Contests will make a return but their keeping tight lips about it.
If Contests is indeed making a come back, then that certainly doesn’t rule out Dawn as a fourth party member. There’s really nothing that says the party is restricted to 3 members, the experiment with Todd/Snap in the original Pokemon, Max in Advance Generation, and Kotone/Lyra and whats-his-name certainly proves that the magical number is certainly not 3. Also, if the front office decides to include Dawn, then certainly gives them room for more filler episodes, breeding, contests, and musical does give room for more episodes and less episode ideas in between Ash’s gym battles.
What really is bothering me, is that there is only 4 episodes of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl, 2 episodes for the Shinn’oh finals, 1 episodes for Pokemon Doctor Brock, and the final episode titled “Memories in Pearl, Friendship is Diamond”. It doesn’t leave a lot of room for a Dawn goodbye episode. If Dawn were to leave, it could have been done episodes sooner. And I would gather Dawn will end up in Johto if she doesn’t continue to travel with Ash.
I also gather fanboys of Dawn’s will not be happy with her leaving.

Thoughts on Anime: Nurse Joy...er Brock
written by: Tsubasa on 2010-08-08 at 9:03 PM
With only 5 more episodes of Pocket Monsters Diamond & Pearl left, I thought it would be a good time to again put my wacky theories out to you all again.
On Ash vs Shinji (Paul): This one is hard to call, I've been internally debating with myself on who would win. Looking at the episode list, 2/5 episodes left have to do with this battle, and one more for the Shinn'oh championships. So I have to say that Ash will in fact lose to Paul in the next few episodes and Paul will ultimately lose to the Darkrai user or maybe winning the entire league; thats one way to take out his internal demons.

Title: Rival Decisive Battle! Satoshi Versus Shinji!! (ライバル決戦!サトシ対シンジ!!) Air Date: July 22, 2010 Summary: Ash begins his battle with Paul. Ash uses his original Sinnoh team, while Paul starts off with a whole new team. Paul starts off with Aggron, revealed to have evolved from his Lairon. Ash starts with Pikachu, but switches after a couple intense attacks. Ash sends out Infernape. Infernape defeats Aggron with a well-timed Mach Punch. Paul sends out Gastrodon (East Sea), and Ash switches to Staraptor. Paul begins with a counter shield strategy of his own, much to Ash's surprise. Staraptor is switched with Buizel. Buizel replicates the famous Ice Jet, damaging Gastrodon. Buizel intercepts Gastrodon's Body Slam with an Ice Punch, knocking Gastrodon out. Paul next sends out Drapion. After counter-shielding Pin Missile and dodging Cross Poison, Buizel is grabbed by Drapion's tail. Can Ash keep ahead, or will Paul even out the odds? Source: Wikipedia

Black and White Thoughts: National Dex
written by: Tsubasa on 2010-08-05 at 7:36 AM
According to Joystiq, you won't be able to catch any new Pokemon from Isshu, after you beat the game. I assume this translates to: you will get one of the starters but you will not any Isshu Pokemon after you beat the Elite Four and get the national dex.
Apparently this is done because GameFreak is having trouble designing new Pokemon. So don't expect 100+ new Pokemon in Black and White. Also the development team wants the game to attract old and new players alike, so starting off with Pokemon that are familiar, not being surprised by brand new Pokemon with brand new abilities.
"players of the upcoming generation of Pokémon titles will only encounter all-new monsters until they clear the game. The developer hopes this will make the game a fresh experience for veterans and newcomers alike -- though Masuda admits that coming up with new monsters has been completely challenging."

Black & White First Look: Rotation Battle

If you read my twitter in the past few days, you know how I feel about the Rotation Battle system. For those who don't let me repeat, Black and White has totally ripped off from what I consider the 3rd best RPG of all time: Jade Cocoon 2.
